Eagle Ranch is your “one stop shop” for Junior Golf Programs
We believe children are the future of golf, and we are committed to sharing the great of golf with them through a diverse offering of programs to suit all ages, experience levels and abilities.
Golf is a game for all ages and we all know that starting the game as a youngster will only enhance your enjoyment in later years.
We have three major goals in all of our programs in addition to teaching golf skills:
- Make it fun – We incorporate fun games into all of our lessons and continually reward kids for enthusiastic participation and accomplishment.
- Keep it safe – Student to instructor ratios are 10 to 1 or less, so there is always more than adequate supervision and safety rules are constantly reinforced.
- Teach good values – The game of golf offers many opportunities to learn skills that carry over to everyday life, such as honesty, courtesy and respect.
We are excited to announce that our 2017 Junior Golf Information is available and registration is open. CLICK HERE to download the information packet.

PGA Junior League
In 2011, the PGA of America launched a national program called PGA Junior League. The concept was to create something like baseball’s Little League, but for golf. This program has seen tremendous growth throughout the country and in Colorado.
Junior golfers, ages 13 and under, will participate on a team of 10-12 players, receive weekly instruction from a PGA Golf Professional, and will have the opportunity to play other courses in weekly matches here in Eagle County. The price has been set at $200.00 per child.
We believe that the PGA Junior League will help us to create a positive, encouraging, and more inclusive experience. The nine-hole format will be scored in a scramble format. Eight kids travel as a team where then two kids from our team will play against two kids from the other team on each hole. They earn a point for each hole that they win. Every three holes, players have the option to sub in a teammate. Those who are waiting to play their three holes are coaching, encouraging, reading putts, tending the flagstick, etc. The parents and coaches stay on the cart path and are mostly quiet, only there if the need arises.
Matches will be on Monday afternoons throughout June and July. The nine-hole matches will usually take about 2 ½ – 3 hours to complete. Parents are responsible for providing transportation to each event. The event schedule and start times will be finalized after team registration is complete in late May.
Our teams will have a one-hour practice each week on Thursday afternoons. Each practice will be coached and instructed by an Eagle Ranch Golf Professional and the kids will have the option of playing 9 holes after practice. The PGA Coach will pair the kids into groups and check on their progress during their round.
Finally, we want to encourage a strong level of commitment and participation from our players and parents. To make this program successful, we all need to be able to field full teams for each event. Parents are needed to help supervise a group during competitions as they players from each team will be spread between 4 or 5 foursomes. Parents are encouraged to participate as spectators (from the cart path).
There is an opportunity for some of the kids to move on to compete at a larger regional level and even potentially play in a National Championship.

The First Tee of Eagle County Tournament Player’s Series:
Since PGA Junior League is only for junior golfers aged 13 and younger (9 years is the recommended youngest age, but exceptions can be made for skilled younger players). Our group felt that we still need to offer something for our older junior golfers. We plan to call this The First Tee Tournament Player’s Series. These events will be open to junior golfers, ages 11-17 and you can sign up for each tournament individually through the First Tee Denver Chapter web site or better yet, by calling the host course golf shop. These will be more competitive individual play tournaments intended for junior golfers who can score and walk 9 holes and keep up playing their own ball. These tournaments will be completely separate from the PGA Junior League.
Here is the tentative schedule as we are still finalizing the dates and host courses:

The Drive, Chip and Putt Championship is a free nationwide junior golf development competition aimed at growing the game by focusing on the three fundamental skills of golf. The competition is for girls and boys ages 7-15. The Drive, Chip and Putt Championship provides junior golfers an opportunity to play with their peers in qualifiers around the country. Participants who advance through local, sub-regional and regional qualifying in each age/gender category earn a place in the National Finals, which is conducted at Augusta National Golf Club the Sunday before the Masters Tournament and is broadcast live by Golf Channel. Eagle Ranch Golf Club will be hosting a Drive, Chip, and Putt Championship Local Qualifier on July 20th.

Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado (JGAC):
The Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado (JGAC) was established in 2016 by the Colorado Section of the PGA and the Colorado Golf Association. The JGAC serves as a vehicle for collaboration in the arena of junior golf in the state of Colorado for parents, kids, coaches and PGA Professionals by streamlining the junior golf process, filling in the voids, further building the junior golf ranks, and creating new excitement with the four Major Championships (Colorado Junior Amateur Championship, Colorado PGA Junior Championship, Colorado Junior Match Play Championship and Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado Tour Championship).
In addition to being your one-stop-shop for competitive junior golf our Player Development Pathway embraces the core programs of each association including Golf in Schools, PGA Junior League, Drive Chip & Putt Championship, partnerships with in-state national qualifying events, instructional camps and clinics and much more. Additionally, we serve as your portal to college golf with a vast array of free counseling opportunities and assistance programs.
Eagle Ranch Golf Club has partnered up with Gypsum Creek to host a two day JGAC tournament. The tournament will be divided into two divisions: ages 11 to 18 and the Tour Division. The tournament will be on July 17th and July 18th with one day at Eagle Ranch and the next a Gypsum Creek or vis versa.
